BNSF Railway Wishes You and Your Family Happy Holidays and All The Best for 2009!

HOLIDAY CHEER ROLLS THROUGH SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

BNSF Railway kicked off the holiday season on December 4th with the 18th Annual Santa Claus Express holiday train. Over five days, trips departed from Commerce, Wilmington, San Bernardino, Duarte and Victorville with more than 1,000 deserving children on board.

Children were selected for the free rides by the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, Starlight Foundation, Scottish Rite, YWCA of Wilmington, Harbor Interfaith of San Pedro, Comprehensive Child Development Center, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation and the City of Hope Hospital, among other organizations. BNSF employee volunteers hosted the children and served as “Santa’s helpers” during each of the trips.

The children sang carols and enjoyed refreshments and entertainment. To the children’s delight, Santa and Mrs. Claus not only asked all of the children what they wanted for Christmas, but also gave them a gift bag with a BNSF teddy bear.

Chuck Potempa, general manager, Los Angeles Division noted, “Through the Santa Claus Express, which brings joy to deserving children, our local employees demonstrate BNSF’s commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.”

The BNSF holiday train was featured in the Daily Breeze and Long Beach Press-Telegram.
